Tracey was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and moved with her family to Houston, Texas, and then Greensboro, North Carolina, where she attended high school. She graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, with a B.S. degree in Communications.

She spent the earlier part of her career in advertising, but her interest in flipping houses led her to acquire both a Real Estate license and Residential General Contractor's license. She ran her own construction company from 2003 to 2007. For the next four years, Tracey turned her focus to selling residential real estate and was a top producing agent at Dickens Mitchener. In January 2012, HM Properties welcomed her to their team of brokers.

Tracey has three children and a dog named Pup, and cat, Louie. In her spare time, she enjoys running and playing tennis.
