Laura is a 9th generation native Charlottean with a true love for the Queen City. She grew up in the Myers Park area and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with honors.

After graduation, she was hired by Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools to teach 3rd grade at Beverly Woods Elementary. Six years later, she earned her real estate license and went to work for Bissell Hayes Realtors where she was a Top Producer for 18 years. In 1996, Laura went to work for Marilyn Hartley Realty and became the Vice President. Throughout her 13 years there she remained a Top Producer. In early 2010, HM Properties was pleased to have Laura and her son, Marshall Jr., join its team of brokers.

Throughout her career, Laura has remained a top producer and proven leader in the Charlotte real estate market.

Laura and her husband, Marshall, have two adult sons and a beagle named "Bad to the Bone".
