Courtney began her professional career as a buyer's assistant for Belk, Inc. Before entering into real estate, she worked as Lynn Salton's broker assistant. After doing this a year and a half, she decided to enter into real estate herself. Courtney has been a licensed real estate broker for five years and works as a team with her mother-in-law, Lynn Salton, and sister-in-law, Sarah Salton.

Courtney was born and raised in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her husband, Russell, works as the Chief Operating Officer for AccessOne MedCard. Russell is a native Charlettean. They have a beautiful 2 year-old daughter named Sophia who attends Weekday School at Myers Park Presbyterian Church. They also have Cricket, a 3 year-old Springer Spaniel.
