Prior to joining HM Properties, Valerie was a broker with Re/Max for seven years before venturing out on her own in 2007, when she opened her own real estate firm, TradeStreet Realty, which was based in Uptown Charlotte. During the 10 years she owned and managed TradeStreet Realty, Valerie had a talented team of 12 agents and support staff making it an attractive investment that was purchased by a local brokerage firm.
As a community leader, Valerie dedicates time to projects focused on the empowerment of women and children. She has also served on The Landmark Commission as a secretary as well as chair of the Education Committee and vice chair of its Design Review Board. She enjoys volunteering, spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling, shopping, interior design, and golfing. She also loves attending Charlotte Hornets games and is a PSL holder with the Carolina Panthers.
Valerie, a native North Carolinian with five siblings, lives Uptown. While she has experienced many successes in her real estate career, those close to her know that she considers her biggest successes to be her two adult children, Randel E Baker and Zekia N Lewis, daughter-in-law Kelly, Ryan and Carter, her two grandsons, and Kamden, her granddaughter.
